    wpr.exe to trace shutdown only

When I initiate a shutdown on my windows 11 computer, the circle of dots start and I get some status messages, but then it just spins and spins. It does not seem to be doing this on reboot. I've left it for almost an hour and it will not shutdown.I've been trying to trace the shutdown with wpr.exe but it always initiates a reboots, not a shutdown.I'm trying to trace with wpr.exe and for it to shutdown only. Not reboot. Is that possible? I'm not seeing the options so asking here. Thanks

    :)

Slow boot, slow shutdown, and slow program starts.

    Hi,

Can you take a boot trace ?

    Here is the steps:

    1. Open a command line as an Administrator (Run As Administrator)
    2. Type the following command in the command line Windows: cd %programfiles(x86)%\Windows Kits\10\Windows Performance Toolkit
    3. Type the following command to start recording the boot trace: wpr -start GeneralProfile -start CPU -onoffscenario Boot -onoffresultspath c:\wpr -numiterations 1 -filemode
    4. Compress the .ETL file generated under the C:\WPR path (very important)
    5. Upload the boot trace file on Dropbox or on Send Large Files - Free Secure File Transfer - TransferNow

  3. WPR command line option for Shutdown performance

    Hi All,

On Windows 10, I can use WPR GUI and select shutdown performance . I am attaching snapshot for reference.

But on windows server we have WPR command line installed by default and we don't want to install WPR GUI. The problem is that I am not able to get command line parameters for Shutdown Performance with selected options.

So can someone please refer the attached snapshot and provide the equivalent WPR command line settings.

    Thanks in adavance.

    wpr TraceLoggingWrite

As you may already know, TraceLogging is the new Windows 10 event tracing framework for user-mode applications and kernel-mode drivers. TraceLogging builds on Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) and provides a simplified way to instrument code. As such, posting
