Windows 10: write permissions seem to be blocking an application from saving files to my new pc/hard drive

just migrated to a new pc running windows 11 and now my dvr software does not successfully save footage to my hard drive nor can it generate the folder named with the current date. i was however, able to manually add the folder with the current date. nevertheless, the mp4 file cannot be saved to this location. this is the path it is trying to generate:C:\Users\haft\Web\PlaybackFiles\2023-12-25\192.168.68.108_01_20231225145012284.mp4i have unticked the "read only" option for the "users" folder and have selected to have all sub-folders included in this action, but to no avail. i am concerned th

Unable to save files correctly to network share with read & write permission

Saving any file to network share folder brings up an error message:
z:\test2.xlsx
"You don’t have permission to modify files in this network location.

Contact the administrator per permission to make these changes"

Facts:

1. Saving any file to the local PC is fine
   
2. This issue happened only when user have permissions (Read & Write) but when I give modify permission its working fine.
   
3. A file with the correct name and extension is created but it is 0kb. If you save the exact same
   

file again and try to overwrite the 0kb file then the document saved correctly the second time .

1. When I tried to use 'Simple Tools' such as notepad also have the same symptoms
   

(only able to create 0kb file initially, and then when you save a second time it saves correctly).

 

cannot open files on network shared drive

Some application need both read and write permission to access their file.
I don't have any knowledge of your application. Usually if you can access that file and copy it to you networked pc should be enough.
I would add write permission and try it again.
Perhaps in the software your using, you need to set a target drive letter for the application data. Some applications can be poorly written and expect the data to come from either a C Drive or D Drive etc.
Firewall permission, network permission, application data target folder. Let us know how your going.

 

Can users burn files from a write-blocked external hard drive to CD/DVD/Blu-ray?

I have a hardware write blocker, which write blocks hard drives. Will it carry its write-blocking attributes if users can burn files from a write-blocked external hard drive?

So far, from write-blocked USB drives, it does not permit to perform the same tasks.
