  1. WriteProtect policy is not working as expected on Windows 11/10

I followed the advice to change the registry. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies" and ensured the "WriteProtect" value is set to "1"I then insert my CompactFlash drive after double checking the value was set. Unfortunately, I can still copy and delete items from the device. I know this used to work to properly prevent any write activity. I tested on 3 separate computers and all are failing. System InformationEdition Windows 11 Enterprise Version 24H2 Installed on ‎12/‎6/‎2024 OS build 26100.2605 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0

WriteProtect policy is not working as expected on Windows 11/10

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
