Windows 10: Wrong formatting of HDD's on GPT vols causes BIOS hang up at boot

If you use the admin tools --> to format an HDD and it prompts you create simple volume I've found on boot BIOS hangs.

I had to disconnect the drives and re-insert after windows had started to boot --then I could get in there and do Diskpart, clean, convert gpt, create partition primary format fs=ntfs,quick.

Then Bios booted OK

Might just be my bios (HP Gen 10 proliant microserver) but I almost thought I had dead drives.

Even KHYI rescue wouldn't boot -- now after successful windows boot I made new KYHI USB and it's OK.

I think the Simple volume thingy creates some sort of extra system partition which confuses the Bios boot as to what to do.

you need the non boot HDD's to have 1 single gpt partition - none of the extra 16MB things or whatever at the beginning of the HDD after creating simple volume.

Don't touch the boot disk though -- if your BIOS hangs then disconnect the non boot drives and as soon as boot starts quickly re-connect - even if they are "non hot swappable" --that way windows will see them and you can correct bad disk geometry using the DISKPART command.

No BIOS or HDD

As of now all I want is to get a few files from my HDD, I can boot from the USB drive but I can’t install windows in any of the partitions because it says that they are of GPT partition style, and if I format my main partition I’ll lose my files. Any suggestions
to at least access the contents of my HDD?

What is a better format for HDD over 2TB Master boot with Win 7 OS RAID... GPT vs MBR?

Hi all,
I am going to be getting 2x SATA 3TB Toshiba SATA 6GB HDD and would like to know, what is a better format for my HDD over 2TB for master boot with win 7 OS RAID.... GPT or MBR?

I know if I format in MBR it will only be 2.4TB and if I do it in GPT Basic I might get 2.6TB on the drive but is there benefits or down falls to MBR or GPT other then I will get a little more size on these drives to use.
