Windows 10: Wrong icon when I insert a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM

    Wrong icon when I insert a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM


    Help me out here, each time I insert a DVD into my DVD player I get the wrong icon (yes, earlier today I installed Mafia III and it stayed that way. It's not supposed to...)

    How can I get my old icon back?

    As you can see, it doesn't match. Each game disc gives me the Mafia III logo instead of the icon of the corresponding game...

    So how can I fix it?

    DVD/CD Rom driver for window 10

    The DVD/CD Rom driver is typically the cdrom.sys which is included in Windows 10.

    What is wrong with the DVD/CD Rom drive?

    Also what computer (or motherboard) do you have (make/model)?

    What DVD/CD Rom drive (make/model)?

    Thank you for reply to my question.The problem is not solved.

    Already in my reporting the problem I said that in the device manager itself CD/DVD ROM drive is not shown and hence it is not possible to expand the CD/DVD ROM drive and do the things as told by you.

    Problem in a nutshell: CD/DVD ROM drive is not shown in the device manager

    CD/DVD ROM drive icon is not there in file explorer

    I will be grateful for further assistance

    Can't anyone help me with this? Also discovered that not ALL of my games give me this error... Some will show up with the correct .ico file.

    Done that, did not work... Or maybe if I revert my BIOS? (strange things happen to my PC when I updated my BIOS a few days ago..... Like freezing games and... well... this...)

    Last BIOS I used for for preventing Meltdown/Spectre from GIGABYTE

    It doesn't have anything to do with BIOS, it's windows thing.
