Windows 10: Wrong input password when trying to access shared folder

Hi, i've two device, the main device is win 10 and the second device is win 11I shared my drive from the main device, and it has passwordI try to access shared drive from second device, i type the user and badly i type the wrong pasword cz it's accident, i hit enter before i finish typingWhere can i change the password to access the shared drive from my second device, i check in the credential manager, it has nothingPlease help me.

How To: Password Protect a Folder in Network?

Hi i have xp pro and i Unchecked the simple file sharing. Can you walk me through? what i want is to password protect Shared folders, so whenever from the others computers try to access those folders a Prompt message pop up asking for user name and password.

We would suggest you to try accessing the shared folder using the path and see if that helps. Follow the steps mentioned below:

Press Windows key + R, to open Run dialog box.

Type \\shared folder path and click on OK.

However, you may try providing permissions to the folder where the files are saved and see if you are able to access the files. Refer the steps mentioned below:

Navigate to the location on the PC through which the files are shared.

Right click on the folder and select Properties.

Click on Sharing tab, and click on Advanced Sharing.

Now, select the checkbox for Share this folder.

Click on Permissions, select the check box for Allow Full Control.

Click on OK (Twice).

If an IT Administrator manages the folder, then you may have to get in touch with the administrator to reset or grant permissions to access the file.

To know the username of your computer, please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Type Command prompt in the search bar.
   
2. Right click on the Command prompt icon and select Run as Administrator.
   
3. Type whoami in Command Prompt window and press Enter.
   
4. You will find the username of the computer, use the username and your password to access the file from the shared folder.
   

However, if the above steps didn’t help, I suggest you to turn off password protected sharing and check if that helps.

To turn off password protected sharing, please follow the steps mentioned below on your laptop:

1. Press and hold Windows + R key on the keyboard.
   
2. Type Control and click on
   OK.
   
3. Click on Network and Sharing Center.
   
4. Click on Change advance sharing settings.
   
5. Under All Networks, click on
   Turn off password protected sharing.
