  3. DisplayPort 1.2 Daisy chained Monitors suddenly no longer work

    Hello,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Below are instructions on daisy chained mode to help you connect multiple monitors. First, make sure all monitors support DisplayPort 1.2 or higher and Multi-Stream Transport (MST) 1. MST enables you to link displays into a series, creating a seamless display experience1. Here are the steps to connect your monitor:

    1. Turn on the power of all monitors.

    2. Access the settings menu on each monitor and enable DisplayPort 1.2 and/or MST.

    3. Connect the first monitor to the computer using a DisplayPort cable.

    4. From the DisplayPort output of the first monitor, connect it to the DisplayPort input of the next downstream monitor.

    5. Repeat this process to connect other displays in the chain. If your graphics card only has one DisplayPort output, you can try connecting it to the MSI MAG271C, and then from the MSI5 monitor to the Dell monitor via the output DisplayPort. If you have another identical Dell monitor, you can try replacing it to rule out hardware issues. If you need to confirm whether a Windows driver update or setting is causing the problem, you can try a side-by-side installation of the new system on another partition and see if the problem persists1. If you have another computer, you can also test the same settings on that computer to see if there is an issue with the Dell monitor.

If you have anything unclear, please be free to tell us.

  4. Wrong monitor identity on DisplayPorts RTX 4060 with MSI G244F Windows 10

Windows 10 keeps setting third monitor to "Disconnect this display" on boot

I have 3 identical monitors, two of which are connected via DisplayPort, the third one uses HDMI:

Monitor setup and connection (from left to right) as displayed in Windows

    3 - HDMI

    2 - DisplayPort (main)

    1 - DisplayPort

Each time I boot Windows monitor 1 (which is the one on the right) is set to "Disconnect this display". When I manually select "Extend my desktop to this display" everything is fine. But why should I have to do this on every boot?

Resolution and scaling are identical on all 3 monitors.

For some reason Windows seems to think that monitor 1 runs at a refresh rate of 59.997 Hz (nVidia Control Panel shows all displays running identical settings at 60Hz). The only other options listed are 30.000 Hz and 29.970 Hz, but no 60Hz. Which is strange considering this and monitor 2 are connected via DisplayPort, so should be identical. Not sure if this is related though, why would a different refresh rate cause a monitor to be disconnected on boot?

Video card is an RTX 2070 Super and I am using latest nVidia Game-ready drivers, also Windows 10 is fully updated.

This only started happening after I re-installed Windows a few weeks ago.
