    Wrong network device driver is loaded almost every startup


    Almost every time I start Windows 10 after shutdown the wrong network driver is loaded. The device driver loaded is:


    IntelR 82579LM Gigabit


    I have learned that the quickest fix is to open device drivers and scan for hardware changes. Windows then switches to:


    IntelR 82579V Gigabit


    This is correct and everything works fine until I shutdown and start up again.


    Motherboard is ASUS P8P67 Pro REV 3.0.

    Win 10 will not load intel network driver 82579V

    After upgrading from Win7 to Win10, the Intel driver 82579V cannot install automat. when starting the PC.

    Win10 is loading the wrong Intel Network driver 82579LM instead of 82579V.

    I allready contact to my Mainboard Supplier Asus and also to Intel to find a solution.

    Asus and Intel know this Problem, is coming from Windows.

    The Problem can only disappear by by doing an manual driver update from a list in the device manager. After this Win 10 is detecting the correct driver. By starting the PC again, the problem with the wrong driver returns. That means by starting the PC allways
    the driver has to installed manually from the driver list in the device manager.

    I think there is a bug by loading the correct driver.

    Mainboard: Asus Sabertooth P67

    Network adaptor: 82579V

    Driver: From Win 10

    Add. driver: try to run the Intel driver version from 22.10 - 24.5.0.0. with no positiv result.

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    This issue may arise due to driver conflicts. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

    I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    Steps to uninstall and reinstall driver.

    • Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
    • In the list of devices, you should see the Graphics drivers.
    • Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
    • In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
    • In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes”
      option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
    If the issue persists, I suggest you to download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website. If there no updated drivers available on the computer manufacturer’s website, then download the latest drivers and try installing it in Windows
    8 compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

    Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    a. Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.

    b. Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

    c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
    ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’     and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
