Windows 10: Wrong program opens when using "Send to > Mail recipient" in File Explorer

Problem

When sending a photo from File Explorer, Juno Internet opens instead of Microsoft Outlook. Steps: File Explorer > Pictures – Right click on file, select Send to > Mail recipient, choose size when prompted, and Juno opens. How do I get Outlook to open?

Operating System and Software

Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.17134, Build 17134.285, 64-bit

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013, Version 15.0.5049.1000, 32-bit

Juno Internet 8.8.1.0 (Build Id: 2010.01.28.14) – I only have this program installed to look up old e-mail messages.

Settings

Default Apps > Email > Outlook 2013 (Juno does not show as an option)

Set defaults by app > Mail > .eml (E-mail Message) > Outlook 2013 (Juno does not show as an option)

Set defaults by app > Mail > MAILTO (URL:MailTo Protocol) > Outlook 2013 (Juno does not show as an option)

File

Local Disk (C > Users > My Name > AppData > Roaming > Microsoft > Windows > SendTo > Mail recipient: opening this file with Notepad shows the only content is “Mail”

Send To Mail Recipient Issues


At some point in the last couple of weeks the Send To/Mail Recipient function has stopped working. When I select a file and do the send to, Windows starts thinking, the explorer window that I have selected this from stops taking input and then eventually, with no error messages, the explorer window closes and desktop explorer resets.

My Default mail client is Outlook 2013 (15.0.4745.1000)

Send To Mail Recipient Issues


I have the standard Windows10 and Outlook2013. I don't normally send files so I selected one, a photo, and clicked on "send to mail recipient." After verifying the size of the photo a email window opened and was just waiting for an address. All seemed to function as intended.

From the description provided, I understand that you are not able to use the Mail App as default send to mail recipient option.

The ability to email a file from Windows Explorer relies on MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface), which is something that the Windows Mail app doesn't currently support.

Please be informed that the Windows mail app is not an email client and does not accept the "send to mail recipient" or other such functions. MAPI support is responsible for the mail:to function in Windows.

If you have any suggestions about Windows 10, I suggest you to post your valuable feedback about Windows 10 in feedback app. So, that it will be helpful for the developers to integrate the changes suggested by you.

Open start menu , type Feedback app in search bar and click on feedback app to open it. Post your suggestions in feedback app.
