Windows 10: Wrong status of airplane mode

Hmm. Yes. Apart from all of that everything seems to be ok. But I'm a bit perfectionist thats why it is bothering me.

yes i too have the same issue..looks like a bug...

i even tried adding both blueooth and airplane in top row but still airplane false lights up..

does windows pro has this issue?

 

Yes. Windows 10 has this issue. Specially with qualcomm. Mediatek/ralinks run fine.

 

My issue cleared up for me last week with one of the updates - I think it was the update that moved the winver output up to 10586.17.

 

Wordman i'm stuck with another problem. After clean installing now my wifi is disabled. Can't do anything to tyrn on. Not even updating the driver works. Qualcomm atheros qca9565 bt+wifi. *Sad any suggestion or help?

Probably there is a wireless switch driver/utility you should install to toggle the wi-fi on or off. Have a look at the manufacturer's site. Or it may be a Quick Launcher (or similar) utility controlling all the hotkeys. Make sure you install that as well.

 

Nope. I've installed everything from the hp website available for my laptop. Even with widows update. But no luck. :'(

 

Today I updated to build 10586.29 Try doing all the updates just in case the issue is fixed.

 

Updates are bullsh*t. They don't help. I'm really upset about what microsoft's doing. If they keep messing up things like these then very soon their reputation will be replaced and people will start using alternatives. Ubuntu for example. Manufacturer's are doing that. Dell for example.

 

Manufacturers install Ubuntu to sell their computers cheaper (Windows costs about 100$ on the purchase price), not because they like it! See here for many Linux problems and why the average computer user should avoid it. Linux is reserved for those willing to spend enough time solving the issues and experimenting. For all of us just wanting to do our job STAY CLEAR! My advice!

 

Found this today in list of known W10 issues:
"After logging into your PC, you may hit a UI issue in which Airplane Mode will incorrectly show as “on” even though your PC’s Wi-Fi is powered on (the UI essentially does not wait long enough for the device’s physical radios to power on before reporting the current state), but you can just toggle Airplane Mode as a workaround".
So I just toggle Bluetooth on/off which clears the Airplane Mode indicator.

Anyone had this problem? Here is a work around for the airplane and blue tooth button problem. This removes the buttons from the action center.
This solution, from another user, has worked for me:
"Open regedit and go to the entry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ActionCenter\Quick Actions\All\SystemSettings_Radio_IsAirplaneModeEnabled

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ActionCenter\Quick Actions\All\SystemSettings_Device_BluetoothQuickAction


change the value of "type" from 0 to 1

The default should be
"Type"=dword:00000000

change it to

"Type"=dword:00000001


and reboot to apply the registry change


Note: I don't have any Bt devices at all on this computer, and I have no idea what this "type" entry does other than it fixed the "Bluetooth" icon being displayed as ON without any BT device on my system. Backup the registry entry/key before editing your registry."


Worked for me!
