Hello,Earlier today a local user account "wsiaccount" was created on one of our corporate machines for no reason. The user didn't click forgot password, passwordless sign-in isn't enabled on our domain, and no major updates ran on the device, nothing. The only thing the user did before this occurred was undock and dock her Surface Pro a couple of times into her Windows Surface Dock. It would be helpful if you could provide any insight into why the system created this account out of the blue. Thank you.

    :)

Surface pro 4 Dock Scaling problems

No question this is a problem. And for those who dock and undock frequently, it's a HUGE problem. Rebooting after connecting or disconnecting does correct the problem, but it's certainly not a fix. I frequently have multiple apps open when I close the cover
or dock/undock (e.g. I use sleep mode a lot). Having to close all my work in progress to reboot and then reopen everything just to fix scaling is too frustrating.

A few suggestions to make the problem slightly more tolerable until Microsoft fixes this issue (this assumes your using the recommended 200% scaling)...

    • Suggestion 1: Boot your Surface disconnected from the dock and login, THEN connect to your dock. Windows will apply the high DPI scaling, which makes most of your non-Microsoft apps (e.g. Chrome, etc.) usable, though font readability does
suffer. If Windows Explorer, Edge, or Microsoft Office apps were open before you docked, they'll have to be closed and reopened to reset the font scaling (otherwise they'll be quite large).
    • Suggestion 2: For non-Microsoft apps, you can disable the high DPI scaling per application. Find the application's EXE file, right-click and select properties, then click on the Compatibility tab. Check ON the "Disable display scaling
      on high DPI settings
" option. This will disable the down-scaling that Windows applies, but of course your application will run at 200% normal size. In some cases, this may be more desirable. For example, I use this mode for my NetBeans IDE and Google
Chrome and then use the preferences of those applications to set the font display size. It made both more readable and comfortable to use when docked.

None of these are good workarounds. If you set scaling to 100%, everything is great when docked but entirely too small when just using the Surface 4 Pro's display (unless you're still under 40 with great eye sight).

Come on Microsoft... you've got a great product in the Surface 4 Pro, so please get the dock scaling issue fixed.

  3. Surface pro 4 Dock Scaling problems

Scaling issues with Apps on Surface 4+docking station+ external monitors:

I have 2 monitors connected through the Surface Pro 4 docking station, and if I extend to Monitor 2 and Monitor 3 - I get same problem:

Skype for business icons and app menu are huge, taking up all the screen space

Power Point is useless because again the menu items are huge

Internet Explorer are the same - huge menu

It does not happen with OneNote, Word is ok, Excel ok. I think its those programs too because nothing I do with the monitors will change that.
