Windows 10: WSL error 0xc03a0014 – Virtual disk support provider not found on Windows 11

Hi everyone, I'm trying to install Ubuntu on Windows 11 using WSL, but I constantly get this error: Installing, this may take a few minutes... WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0xc03a0014 Error: 0xc03a0014 Cannot find a virtual disk support provider for the specified file. BlueStacks and VirtualBox fail as well, which makes me think this is a system-level problem with virtual disk VHD/VHDX handling. What I’ve already tried: - Virtualization is enabled in BIOS and Task Manager - Enabled “Windows Subsystem for Linux” and “Virtual Machine Platform” features - Disabled Memory Integri

WSL 2 - Can't install Ubuntu 22.04 - Can't use any Ubuntu with WSL 2

Hi! I did a clean install of Win 11 Pro yesterday. I did Windows update and I'm current.

I tried to use WSL and install Ubuntu 22.04 with the new GUI. (I'm a developer and this is the reason I went to Windows 11!)

When I install from the store it dies while unpacking with a message to run wsl --shutdown and wsl --unregister <Distro name>.

No distros are registered at the time. After googling I set my default version of WSL to 1 and opened the MS Store Ubuntu 22.04 again. It installed and I set up my user and password. The I tried to set the version to 2 as stated in the google results. Error.

wsl --set-version Ubuntu-22.04 2

I can't find any help on this.

I tried to install Ubuntu 16.04 and got this:

WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0xc03a0014

Error: 0xc03a0014 A virtual disk support provider for the specified file was not found.

Nothing anywhere on that error. Any ideas?

Error code: Wsl/ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST | WSL seems to be broken after upgrading to Windows 11

Hi Microsoft Team,

I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and attempted to install Docker. However, upon installation, I encountered difficulties launching Docker due to issues with WSL.

WSL seems to be broken in my system.

when I run below command in command prompt (admin mode) :

wsl --list --verbose

I get below error :

The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

Error code: Wsl/ERROR_SERVICE_DOES_NOT_EXIST

Therefore, I uninstalled docker and WSL.

Turned off below windows features:

1. Hyper-V
   
2. Virtual Machine Platform
   
3. Windows HyperVisor Platform
   
4. Windows SubSystem for Linux
   

Rebooted.

Turned on the above windows feature and installed Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS from Microsoft Store.

Rebooted.

But its still not working.

when I run below command again :

wsl --list --verbose

It still gives the same error.

Could someone assist with this query, please ?

 

Sandbox Error: a virtual disk support provider for the specified

Hi! I am having this very bad error saying:

A virtual disk support provider for the specified.

I have tried all possible solution by uninstalling and installing Optional Feature, sfc/scannow and tweaking the Registry as what microsoft website suggested abou tFsDepends . After all those changes and effort the error still keeps on showing, I do not understand where would I troubleshoot this. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!
