Windows 10: wsl on windows ubuntu not recognizing windows file structure

So I installed WSL and have UBUNTU as my default terminal when I run the Windows terminal. I went to settings>ubuntu>starting directory and selected my projects folder on my desktop.however, when I run the terminal and put in "pwd" I get home/username...and when I do ls -a I I just get....bash_history .motd_shown .vscode-server .zsh_history.bash_logout .oh-my-zsh .wget-hsts .zshrc.bashrc .profile .zcompdumpNow, it did work. I was using Ubuntu and it saw my windows but as soon as I tried changing the default directory it messed everything up.As a result in VS code when I select WSL on the

Fedora, Ubuntu, and SuSE Linux Available from Windows Store

It seems people here missed the fact that WSL with Ubuntu has been available for almost a year now and are surprised, when SUSE and Fedore have been added to the list.
Only difference there is that Ubuntu will install directly from the Store, I assume, without the need to turn on dev mode, add Windows feature and so on.

 

Usb Webcam unrecognized by Windows 11, after it has been attached to Ubuntu ( using WSl ) and also still detached from Ubuntu

unfortunately The problem hasn't been resolved..

because the problem is related to a external USB webcam ( a Nexigo webcam 4K ) that previously that I was using WSL , worked on Windows 11 and it was recognized by Windows 11.

But after I have used WSL to attach this external usb webcam to my Ubuntu distribution using " usbipd wsl attach -b [bus number]" and after I have detached from Ubuntu the webcam ( using " usbipd wsl detach -b [ bus number ] ) , Windows devices manager doesn't recognize anymore this USB webcam, and neither WSL recognises the webcam if i try in power shell : " usbipd wsl -list " , the webcam has desappeared,

still from the device manager Windows it doesn't appear anymore the USB webcam in Camera device, ( but only the Integrated camera Laptop )

How do I open WSL Ubuntu?

I installed WSL Ubuntu on my Windows 11 desktop PC but it will not open.

When I click the Ubuntu icon in the Start menu, this PowerShell command line appears with --- "my username and my computer name :~$". --- I do not know what to enter after $ to open Ubuntu. I have guessed at several commands that were not recognized.
