WSL - speed of rsync is limited to exactly 1.0 GBPS

Hi, I have a 2.5 GBit network, and my NAS is based on Debian linux and pushing and pulling files over Samba achieves the full 2.5 Gbps, without any compromise.I have setup an rsync script in WSL to sync some files to the same NAS for backup purposes, but the interesting thing is, despite using the same network connection just a switch, its running with _exactly_ 1000 Mbps. Like spot on. Because it is using the exact same network path, 2500 Mbps are available. So there is a software-induced limitation. Is it WSL, that is not able to handle more than 1000 Mbps?

    :)

speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware !?

I am seeing several messages in the event log shortly after I boot (the adapter message appears earlier than the processor messages):

    • A command sent to the adapter has timed out. The adapter did not respond.
    • The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware.
The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
    • The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware.
The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
    • The speed of processor 2 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware.
The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
    • The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware.
The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

What could be causing this? My firmware is up-to-date.

WSL - Rsync from Synology NAS to Windows 10

    Hello,

I have installed WSL and Ubuntu on my Windows 10 computer. It works like a champ.

I can ssh into my Synology NAS and rsync works.

I understand how to set the permissions in the rsync command so that they are correct on the NAS but when I have to sync a NAS folder back to the Windows box I am not sure what permissions to apply. If I use the p option in the rsync command as a test when
syncing to the NAS from the Windows box the user file permissions are RWX, user directory permissions are RWX and group/other are left as ---.

Is this telling me to set the permissions within the rysnc command as --chmod=Du=rwx,Fu=rwx when syncing NAS to Windows? If not what should I use?

As a side note when I look at the files on the Windows box via the Ubuntu command line the permissions are listed as rwxrwxrwx for each directory and file.

    Regards,

    Chris

WSL - speed of rsync is limited to exactly 1.0 GBPS

    1 Gbps internet

Hi, I hope you're doing good today.

You're right, you need to look if your Wifi cards support that speed on Wifi. If not, unfortunately, you're gonna need to get newer ones if you really need that speed wirelessly.

Also, check your router specs and make sure that is also able to reach the 1 Gbps on Wifi.

    Regards.
