Windows 10: WSL starts to run everytime I open File Explorer on Windows 11

I recently found that WSL runs everytime when I open File Explorer in Windows 11, and the navigation pane in the File Explorer takes long time to load. Is there a way to prevent WSL from running when I open File Explorer? I tried to remove the Linux icon in the navigation pane in the File Explorer using a .reg file, the icon was removed but nothing else has changed. As my laptop doesn't have lots of memory, when WSL is running, it takes out a big chunk of my memory which slows my laptop down. I know a can set my WSL to a lower momery limit using the config file, but I use WSL from time to time

Since 2022H2: File Explorer slow when Quick Access contains WSL folders.

After upgrading Windows 11 to 2022H2, the file explorer is slow showing it initial list of Quick Access folders in right panel.



It seems WSL locations in Quick access is causing the latency.



Before upgrade:

- Initial list of folders in right pane was fast. Quick access contains folders of WSL.

- Accessing WSL folder from Quick Access was slow (very slow).

- When WSL terminal is open, accessing WSL folder in File explorer was fast.



After 2022H2 upgrade:

- Initial list of folders in right pane is slow. Quick access contains folders of WSL.

- Accessing WSL folder from Quick Access is fast.

- When removing folders that point to WSL folders from Quick access, initial startup is swift.

- When adding folders pointing to WSL, file explorer is slow.

- When WSL terminal is open, initial startup of File Explorer is fast.



It seems like in previous version of Windows 11, WSL was lazily started when WSL folders were accessed, while after upgrading to 2022H2, WSL is initialized at startup of Explorer when WSL files are in Quick Access.



I think I prefer WSL to be started lazily since I do not always access WSL based folders.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

WSL Runs Very Slow When Running Vue JS

Hi All, Greetings.

I am new at using WSL, Windows Subsystem for Linux, as my development server and i want to run my Vue JS app using WSL

but everytime i run ' npm run serve' it's run so slow.

It is different when not running in wsl . the server start so fast

i am using windows 11 with memory ram 16 GB and intel core i7

what Should i do? thanks
