Windows 10: wsl --update fails at 90% with the messeage "Element not found"

So i have a course in university where we're supposed to install docker. I have previously had issues with wsl before, and magically avoided it when it came to exam season. Unfortunately i can't ignore it for this course.I have "Windows subsystem for linux" enabled in windows features, and i can see that it is installed.I recently delistes Ubuntu, in an attempt to reinstall windows sub linux disabling it and enabling it using powershell commands. I also ensured that my windows version is appropriate currently running version 23H2, Windows 11 Home. I even tried to manually install the wsl k

Cannot install WSL on new laptop

When trying to install WSL from the microsoft store I get the error message:

So far I have tried:

• Ensuring "Windows Subsystem for Linux", "Windows Hypervisor Platform" and "Virtual Machine Platform" are enabled in windows features and restarting
  
• Updating my device to the latest version and restarting
  
• Attempting to install it via the command prompt with administrator permissions with wsl --install. This loads up to 90% then gives the message :"Element not found."
  

Any ideas to what I could do to fix this would be great

 

WSL is blocked by SAC ?

Hello,

I'm reaching out to the community for assistance with a persistent WSL issue. Upon attempting to launch WSL, I'm encountering the following error:

WslLaunchInteractive failed with error: 0x800711e6 - System Integrity policy has been violated. Explicit denied file.

Steps Taken:

1. I have reset the Ubuntu Linux distribution.
   
2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WSL.
   

Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I am running Windows 11 build no: 22631.2715 with WSL 2.0.9.0, and the error occurs every time I try to start WSL.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? Specifically, I'm seeking guidance on navigating the System Integrity policy that's seemingly causing the block. Any insights into how Smart App Control impacts WSL's functionality and possible configurations to mitigate this would be greatly appreciated.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
