Windows 10: WSUS Cannot upgrade Win 10 workstations to 1903 from 1809

Have to upgrade our environment's workstations from Windows 10 Enterprise Edition 1809 current build 17763 to 1903 then 1909 and ultimately 2004. Unfortunately I cannot even get the first upgrade to 1903 going successfully. I believe I have everything setup correctly on WSUS:On WSUS, Options> Products and Classification :checked Windows 10checked Windows 10, 1903 and laterchecked Windows 10, 1909 and laterchecked UpgradesUpdates > All updates:Approved Feature update to Windows 10 Version business & consumer, version 1903 en-us x64Approved Feature update to Windows 10

Feature 1903 not visible in WSUS

In my organization we use WSUS and I know you need to select the following under 'Products and Classifications' in order to publish the 1903 feature update in WSUS.

• Windows 10
• Windows 10, Version 1903 and later, Servicing Drivers
• Windows 10, Version 1903 and later, Upgrade & Servicing drivers
• Windows 10, Version 1903 and later
  
  
  
  

Unfortunately, I don't see the version 1903 (feature update) in the updates, even after manual sync. The weird fact is that i see the 1909 feature update, but the feature update to 1903 is missing.





Does anybody have an idea how i can make the 1903 feature update available? The server is all up to date.

When i search for '1903' i see different updates for the 1903 version, but the 'feature' update is missing.

Unchecking all the windows versions -> sync -> reboot -> check the win 1903 -> sync -> reboot did the trick for me.

You are missing an EFI partition too. Here's mine (1903) - note the 99Mb EFI partition:



- noting the Recovery partition is NTFS - not sure where the idea in that thread about FAT32 comes from.

Here are all the partitions - Disk Management omits the 16Mb one:




In the thread I quoted- not the most straightforward- it seems one basic step taken was to
a. Image 'C: '
b. Clean install Windows
c. Replace the new Windows partition by restoring it from the image created
d. (Note when rebooting, this may sort itself out via automated repair, or need Startup repair to be run)

msconfig boot empty
or
msconfig boot empty "Windows 10"
you will find numerous references which may help.

 

SCCM: In Place upgrade Win 7to win 10 1903 License issue

I was working on one task sequence for In Place Upgrade. Win 10 1709 to Win 10 1903 is working fine.

But Win 7 to Win 10 1903 is getting failed during Upgrade Operating System step.

I checked some of the links and added the KMS Client Keys (NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43) in upgrade operating system step.

Also added one step to run vbs script.

But Task Sequence is getting failed at this step.

Command line Cscript.exe c:\windows\system32\slmgr.vbs /ipk NPPR9-FWDCX-D2C8J-H872K-2YT43 returned 3221549136

In my environment, we are using KMS and we don't have a Volume license.

Any advise how to resolve this issue.
