Windows 10: WSUSSCN2.CAB Digital Signature issue

I have several desktops that are completely offline due to requirements. I utilize WSUSSCN2.CAB to verify which patches are needed for a given month and verify patch compliance upon patch completion. I utilize scripts that query the CAB to produce the results.


Now I can't get any of the scripts to work due to the error: The digital signature of the object did not verify Exception from HRESULT: 0x80096010.


I have looked at the SHA-256 signature in the CAB file and it comes across as signing time Monday, Dec 7, 2020 12:48:20 AM but it also shows: This digital signature is not valid.


How do I get around this problem, short of disabling the digital signature verification, since that is not a winning strategy or is this a problem with the Microsoft signature?

why microsoft release wsusscn2.cab on different date

Hi ,

Have some Query.

For us to scan window server missing patches we can install Microsoft MBSA Analyzer & download the latest wsusscn2.cab,

to perform a scan and check for missing patches.

Anyone have ideal on why microsoft release wsusscn2.cab on different date?

Example microsoft release the wsusscn2.cab on 21 june 2018, after few days or 1 week they will release the 11 July 2018 wsusscn2.cab file.

Any specify reason?

Is it possible to get older versions of the wsusscn2.cab file?

I've been scouring the internet, looking for some way to get the wsusscn2.cab file from a specific point in time. I know this seems like an odd request, but I need to deploy a Windows 7 PC and install patches up to a specific point in time. All of this
is offline, so the patching is done manually (hence the need for wsusscn2.cab to verify the updates). I simply do not want any patches beyond a certain date to show up during the verification process.

 

.cab invalid digital signature

I recently reinstalled Vista 32 bit and downloaded all updates. I tried to install an HP printer driver which would not run unless I ran it with administrator permission checked in properties, and get message unidentified publisher, click yes I know and
then starts to install but fails with .cab invalid digital signature.

I ran the same program on another Vista 32 bit computer and the installation went OK and managed to print some files. so what am I missing or what is difference between the 2 machines?

What do I need to do to fix problem?

Some other programs I tried tor run only showed a spinning disk for a few moments.

I also notice that I cannot stop some programs using either X and have to use Windows task manager to terminate them.
