Windows 10: WX Doesn't Detect Other Monitors (GTX 760)

Like I said, this worked until the Windows 10 update.

 

The graphics card has two DVI ports, one HDMI, and one DP. I am using one of the two DVI ports.

Both monitors (the new one and the old one) only have a DVI and VGA Input.

 

So roll back, and update again to see if it works.

 

I tried this several weeks ago. I rolled back to 8.1 and it still didn't work. Could my graphics card be the one that is broken?

EDIT: Also, because I am on Windows 10586.3, I can't roll back.

 

What happens if you disconnect your current, (working), monitor and connect the working cable to the second monitor? make this connection direct without any adaptors if possible.

If this gives a picture try the other DVI to DVI connection on the (currently working ), monitor. it is also worth checking if the working monitor works with the other DVI to the one currently plugged into

I suggest this to

• check the old monitor is working or not
• Sometimes the two DVI connectors on a Card are different sub-types, (DVI-I and DVI-D), and the older monitor may not be compatible with the Newer port type.
• Check that both ports work, ( if the one DVI port does not work with the currently working monitor then it is possible that the card is at fault)

 

When I use the DVI cable that is usually plugged into my primary monitor into my second one, it works. When I switch the DVI ports, it still works. What could the issue be?

 

That is strange. I have to ask, when you switched the cable and it works did you then hook the other cable to the other monitor and see if both work? That was the other part Barman asked.

It looks like the situation I was suspecting was the case, Either the old monitor does not support the functionality of the one type of DVI port or from what you've said I could be that the one cable is not fully compatible with the newer standard

 

Is it a good idea just to buy a DVI cable then?

 

I would always advise that adaptors are not used if at all possible - if only because they add another point of connection, which will at best degrade signal throughput and at worst cause total failure.

If you can obtain a cable that is the same specification as the one you have, that is already working, then that would be the best way to go
