I checked the requirements given here:

CPU-Z does not show NX setting although I enabled it in the BIOS.

    What should I try next?

    :)

My pc won´t boot Windows 10 from USB/DVD

    - Windows 10 Home, 4gb ram, x32bit OS (x64 processor).

As I said I changed the boot order, being first the removable devices, second DVD and third what would be the normal boot.

    The DVD does get recognized.

  3. BOOTMGR corrupt but only on loading installer

I have a system (motherboard) that will not load the Windows 10 Pro EN x64 installer DVD and USB flash card I have.

It used to load it just fine.

It stopped loading it after I had run Startup Repair from it on some harddisk.

The Install DVD will fail to boot with the following message:

BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot.

This happens also if no harddisks are present. It does not have anything to do with the harddisks (anymore).

What could possibly cause an Installer DVD or SD card to boot just fine until you Run Startup Repair from the Installer and then you get this error?

The first time was off the SD card. The error I got was slightly different but amounted to the same. The I burned the DVD and the DVD *did* boot.!!!!. So the SD card (that contained combined x86 and x64) no longer booted, but the DVD (that contained x64)
    still did!!!

But then I ran Startup Repair from the DVD as well and after that the DVD also refused to boot!!..

Installed Windows 10 system boots fine (still)

    Windows 8 DVD loads fine

    Windows 7 DVD loads fine

Linux system on other disk loads fine

Linux DVD and everything else loads fine

The only thing that doesn't work is the Windows 10 Images I have used. Only those two images, currently, the one on the DVD and the one on the SD card, fail to boot and complain about corrupt bootmgr.

That is not the issue from what I can see , you can not upgrade 32bit windows to 64 bit windows without paying for a 64bit Version AFAIK, unless you somehow got 32bit PRO by accident somehow when you got the Upgrade to Win10 , then you maybe able to update to Pro 64bit , with the 64bit Key you already own from win7 or 8.

  5. Maybe I should have specified that I have the same experience as the original poster DoItJust, that is:

    So, no license problem yet.

You are the Original Poster Christine , there is only 3 posts , and only me and you posting, no DoitJust posts.

    A link perhaps?

Being able to download a 64bit version and making the USB etc , does not mean you have a licence to Run 64bit , your pic shows you are on 32bit , which means you upgraded from 32bit Win7 or Win 8 , likely the Home Version since it is 32bit , so you were Entitled to a 32Bit version of Windows 10.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding and you are trying to install 64bit Windows Home? Not Pro ?

but I am still not sure what the issue is?

If that is correct , my guess would be you have the 64bit Pro on the USB , not the 64Bit Home Download on the USB

Oops! I intended to reply to the thread https://www.tenforums.com/installatio...usb-dvd-2.html. Don't know why a new thread was spanned (junior member here). Is it because original thread is too old?

License: Indeed I personally upgraded from a 32-bit version of Win7 (ultimate) but people (see original thread) owning 64-bit versions went into similar problems. Moreover, I have read somewhere that I may install a 64-bit version of Win10 (Pro) since my system is registered at Microsoft.

Anyway, I still don't understand why I can't boot on a 64-bit Windows install disk, as my system should support it.

Okay looking here Windows 10 editions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems you should of gotten 32bit Pro , which you did .......

But I am unsure if the Free offer is also for the Pro 32bit>Pro 64bit or just the Home version 32>64bit.?

You haven't said what the problem is or what errors you are seeing etc , so I am not sure how to help.....

Perhaps Post on the Activation Forum the Same Questions , with a link to this thread.....

    Try M$_Coreinfo Coreinfo

and see if you meet the Processor Specs . like CX16 too

Run it from an Admin Command Prompt so you can see the screen output.

    A couple of things:

Isn't a Windows 10 license work for both X85 and X64? (I believe that you could do an upgrade installation from a 32 bit qualifying OS, and follow that with a change to 64 bit with a clean install. It'd have to be the same type of license: Home or Pro.)

If I understand the OP, she can't boot the PC from an X64 DVD. Shouldn't she be able to do that, regardless of whether the OS would actually install or activate?

I'm not sure whether that CPU supports all of the instructions required for Win 10 X64. I see that it was released in 2004. That doesn't prove that it's incompatible, but its spec sheet doesn't mention NX (or DEP, as Intel calls it):

    http://ark.intel.com/products/27093/...he-800-MHz-FSB

This sounds like an interesting exercise in updating the OS on ancient hardware.

The confusion is mine I think Bob , I assumed She was trying to upgrade Home to Pro.......not Pro x86 to Pro x64

She didn't elaborate on Errors etc but the Guy she quoted gave up an d went back to Win7 ....

If it's just booting x64 I would think perhaps a Secureboot/UEFI/CSM/EFI problem maybe? my x58 MB has an option to turn on EFI for OS's compatible or something like that (likely anticipating Win8 back then).

As for the processor yes , that's why I wanted Her to run CoreInfo , as just cos you can turn it on in the Bios does not mean it is active.
