XBox 360 connected to PC but won’t ‘play’

I have 2 functional 360 controllers that light up when plugged in. However when I try to use for Star Wars Battlefront II they don’t seem to click on/activate. I can’t get them to activate in any game but on my device settings they have been ‘detected’.

Can't connect xbox 360 to windows 10 PC

This is almost exactly the same problem that another user described for windows 7 here:
Can't connect Xbox 360 to PC There was no resolution described in that thread.

I'm going to modify much of what he said to describe my problem.

I'm having trouble connecting my Xbox 360 to my Windows 10 PC. I intend to use my TV, connected to my Xbox, to stream movies/pictures/etc on my xbox 360.

This is a little strange as I've successfully connected them many times before, and don't recall any changes that could cause an issue like this. I've googled extensively and found lots of related issues, but none that resolved my problem and none that
involved a computer running windows 10 connecting to an xbox 360. The Xbox can connect to my network and has no trouble accessing Xbox LIVE - but as soon as I try to run the PC connection test on my Xbox, it first comes up with 'PC Not Listed', and after trying
to search for my PC, fails. I've tried all the suggestions it offers - including checking my PC is on and connected to the network, making sure that media sharing software is running, and forwarding ports (just to check I've disabled Windows Firewall entirely).

My PC seems to recognize my Xbox as shown with the 'network map'.

If I open windows media player and right click on a video I can successfully cast it to my xbox 360 and it will play. But I used to be able to access my shared files by finding them on my Xbox. Now I cannot even see the computer or any files on my Xbox.

I'm pretty stumped and have no idea why I cannot access the files on my computer through the xbox 360. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
