Windows 10: Xbox 360 Controller Device Descriptor Failed

I'm having trouble getting my Xbox 360 controller wireless receiver to work in Windows 10. In the past, I've had to manually install the drivers after plugging in the receiver, but this is no longer working. Instead of appearing in "Unknown Devices", the device appears under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Uninstalling the device from the list doesn't help, since each time I do so it just gets added back to the list with the same "Device Descriptor Request Failed" message. I cannot manually install the correct drivers, because each time I try to, Windows tells me "the best driver for this device is already installed". The device works properly on another computer, so it must be a problem with this system. What can I do to fix this?

then after 6-7 months it is giving an error (device descriptor failed code 43 )

There are several reasons why your Xbox One controller is detected as an Xbox 360 controller by your PC. It is possible that the controller is not updated or if you previously used an Xbox 360 controller on the PC, it is still detecting its drivers instead
of the Xbox One controller drivers. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the following information:

• Have you used an Xbox 360 controller on the same computer before?
• Does the error message occur on all of the games that you play?
• Have you tried to update the controller?
• Are you using an Xbox One Elite controller?
