  1. Xbox App/MS Store will not install games to D drive external HDD

My PC has an internal 512Gb SSD that I reserve for OS/small programs and a 2Tb HDD that I primarily use for my games. When trying to install a game from the Xbox app to my external HDD, I get error 0x87e00017. Most solutions I've found online imply that the issue is network related, but I have narrowed it down to being a storage location issue. Does anybody know how I could solve this?

    :)

  2. Installing to a second Drive. D: or external (Non Boot up Drives)

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are looking for an option to move the game location from the C drive to the Drive D, which is an external drive.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if that resolves your issue on both laptop and Desktop.

    1. As usual install the game on the PC’s in
      C Drive.
    2. Insert the external
      D drive
      to the PC.
    3. Press Windows + I key from the keyboard to launch
      Settings.
    4. Select Apps and click on
      Apps & features
      from the left pane.
    5. Search for the installed game from the list on the right pane.
    6. Single click on the game and select
      Move.
    7. Select the D drive under
      Choose a drive
where you want to move the game.
    8. Restart the PC with the external drive connected and then launch the game.

    We await your response.

windows 10 cant install forza to my HDD drive

This is what I tried :

    1. Change settings in the xbox app to default install to my D: HDD drive

    1. Reinstalling the xbox app.

    3. Changing default apps to be installed to D: via the windows Settings --> Apps

    2. Reseting the Microsoft store with wsreset.exe.

    3. Messing with PowerShell commands ( I dont remember the exact commands) to reset Gaming Services and the Microsoft Store.

    4. Deleting Gaming Services in the Registry editor and then reinstalling them.

    Nothing seem to work.

After many hours I gave up and installed on my external drive. I tried to move the game folder via the Apps section in windows settings but when I pressed MOVE it gave me an error "We couldn't move Forza Horizon 5.

This app is not supported on the target drive's filesystem. try moving it to different location.

    The error code is 0x80073d13"

My D: drive is NTFS so that shouldn't be a problem.

Now, I uninstalled the game because its unplayable from an external drive, game freeze too many times to load the map.

Bottom line : I now want to install forza to my HDD drive but when I press install in the xbox app it only let me choose my C: SSD OS drive' and my

    G: external HDD drive.

It doesn't give me the option to install to my D: HDD drive.

    I tried everything.

Please, at this point I need an advisor to remote control my pc or something.

  4. Xbox App/MS Store will not install games to D drive external HDD

Unable to install MS Games on new SSD

    Hi I have an issue.

I have a 1TB HDD which I used as my games store and had configured the MS store to install new apps on the D: drive (HDD). I purchased a 1TB Sandisk Ultra SSD and cloned the HDD to the new SSD and changed the drive letters so the new SSD was the D: drive.

Now no game or app form the MS Store will work.

I have tied uninstalling and re-installing but when downloading a game it downloads about 100-200Mb and stops with an error "Something unexpected happened Code: 0x80070015"

I wiped all data on the SSD and tried to install fresh content but the same thing happens.

If I change the drive letter so that m HDD is the D: drive I can install with no issues?

Why can I not install to my SSD?
