Windows 10: XBox app no longer shows games and says gaming services needs to be installed.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled gaming services and the XBox app several times. Sometimes gaming services installs, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it gets stuck on pending. If I try to download anything is says I need to install gaming services, but I have already done that. PC is Windows 11, all updates applied. It has worked perfectly for years, this is a brand new issue.

Xbox App/Gaming services won't install or function

I've been trying to get Gaming Services to function for days. Nothing changed in any of my settings to my knowledge but it stopped working. Xbox App tells me Gaming services needs to be installed to play a game. It attempts to install but does nothing. My App list says that its installed but it doesn't open nor does Xbox App seem to see it. In the General Tab of Xbox App Settings it says "There was a problem loading installation locations. Try again" No amount of trying again, restarting, uninstalling/reinstalling Xbox app or Gaming services app has worked. I've been through all of the troubleshooting lists, google solutions, reddit, Xbox help chat, I've given them remote access, I've followed their instructions, PowerShell, CMD. Everything for days. Still not functioning. I have no idea what else to try.

 

Issues with Gaming Services and Xbox app

Upon trying to install games on the Xbox app through Game Pass, I am being told that I don't have Gaming Services installed.

I have tried all the support info I could find including registry editing, reinstalling Gaming Services and Xbox app through PowerShell, uninstalling through the Apps section in the Settings (in addition to all Xbox related apps including the Game Bar) and reinstalling from the Microsoft store but none of the above are working.

It still simply tells me that Gaming Service isn't installed and opens a link to the store page download - when I click on this, I get a notification to say it has been downloaded and then the same thing happens.

Please can anyone tell me any new ways of trying to fix this? I do not want to repeat all of the previous steps to no avail again.

Xbox app not detecting gaming services correctly

My PC Xbox app on Windows 11 is not listing installed games in the side bar and when I try and install new games it tells me to download gaming services.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled gaming services, both with and without a restart. If I uninstall it, restart the computer and have the xbox app running when it finishes re-installing, games appear in the side bar, but I am unable to install new games. If I restart the app, no games appear in the side bar.

I have used the advanced options of the gaming services, xbox, and windows store apps to terminate, repair and reset all of these apps.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the xbox app and the microsoft store app.

I have deleted the registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/GamingServices and GamingServicesNet

I have checked that both my OS and gaming services versions are up to date.

I am running Windows 11 Home, version 22H2, OS build: 22621.1194

I am running Gaming Services version 8.71.12001.0

Please help me to be able to utilize my game pass again.
