Windows 10: xbox app this location isn't setup for installing games - to any drive

Has anyone found the solution to the Xbox app error that wont allow you to install any games!Honestly the Xbox App is useless, has Microsoft ever used Steam? I've tried the usual, re-installing the App and Gaming Service, permissions, etc - same issue.

I appreciate your reply. It seems that the game progress was saved to your Xbox account associated on your computer that's why you can't play the game from the beginning. I recommend that you remove the account on your computer by performing the following
steps:

1. Press the Windows icon, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Under Email & app accounts, click the Microsoft account, then click Remove.

I also suggest that you reset the Xbox app on your computer so that we could ensure that no account is linked to it. To get started, kindly follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Go to Apps.
3. Under Apps & features, locate the Xbox app.
4. Click the Xbox app, then select Advanced options.
5. Click Reset.

Getting Windows 10 to recognize an old app install location

I would like to inform you that you will need to re-install the game as some components of the game might not work properly which can cause the game to crash. However, you can download and install the game/apps from the store on an external drive.



Here are the steps on how you can install program to a different drive from a store.

• Go to windows settings.
  
• Then click on System and then on Storage.
  
• Under "Save locations," and on "New apps will save to," select the new drive location.
  

Once you completed the steps, new apps you download from the Windows Store will now install automatically in the new location.

Yes, this is the expected behavior, while you can list a drive to install store apps and games, you cannot select the install location for the main game files, there will always be a WindowsApps folder that will be installed into on the drive you select.

That is done to protect the integrity of the Store Apps and Games, and ensure they are malware free, the WIndowsApps folder is highly protected.
