Windows 10: Xbox controller headset suddenly not working

I been using the official controller and connected headset for a long time now and suddenly its not working. I used it 99% on gamebar but now no programs can hear from it including the OS tester even though its connected and shows up. There were no updates or changes nothing. Here is a list of everything I've done.-reset controller-update controller-uninstall and reinstall drivers-uninstall and reinstall gamebar-checked app permissions-tested mic on another computer, it works just fine-tried some apple ear pods, the computer can hear those-tried the headset and controller on xbox, still works-

Headset Microphone Not Working on Windows via Xbox Elite Controller

I have my Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller plugged into my PC running Windows 11 via USB. I use a Razer Kraken X Lite headset plugged into that controller via the 3.5mm TRRS audio jack. I am able to hear audio but cannot get the microphone to work. Windows shows both the "Headphones (Xbox Controller)" and "Headset Microphone (Xbox Controller)" under the Audio inputs, as well as the "Xbox One Controller" under the Xbox Peripherals section of the Device Manager. All drivers were automatically installed and show as correct.

I have tried:

• Resetting my computer
  
• Deleting the devices in Device Manager and reconnecting
  
• Making sure Windows and the Xbox controller is up-to-date
  
• Testing the headset, which works when plugged into the controller on my Xbox console
  
• Plugging in the headset to a splitter directly to the computer, which works but is VERY soft and unusable (even at full audio strength)
  

Hoping someone has some idea what I can try besides the things I've already found listed above. Thanks in advance for your help!

 

Xbox one controller suddenly not working with Windows 10

Problem description:

- Xbox One controller now listed in Device Manager as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

- I get the following "USB device not recognized" notification when connecting Xbox One controller:

The last usb device you connected to this computer malfunctioned

Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Restart computer multiple times

- Try with 2 additional USB cables

- Try all 3 cables in different USB slots

- Uninstall controller in Device Manager, then reconnected controller. Devices is re-added with same error message:

"Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

Observations:

- When I tried plugging controller into the keyboard's built in USB sockets, it caused the keyboard and mouse to suddenly stop working and appear to power down until restart.

- This controller has never had this problem on this device in the past, and has previous worked perfectly with all 3 cables I used in testing.

Any additional troubleshooting steps you can suggest? Thanks in advance.
