Windows 10: Xbox Game Bar freezes and crashes when trying to activate background recording

Hi,So I just noticed that my Xbox Game Bar wasn't letting me record my gameplays, so when I tried to fix that and saw the background recording toggle turned off, I tried to turn it back on, but then the Game Bar freezed and stayed there on my screen por around 10 seconds before dissapearing and still wasn't able to record my gamesI tried to repair and reset the app but still, has that problemIs there any current bug with the Game Bar app right now?

Xbox Game Bar Capture Doesn't Record Mic Audio

In addition, you can also check if the Microphone for game bar is enabled under privacy settings.

1. Go to Settings (press Windows +
   I key together) > Privacy.
   
2. On the left hand pane scroll down and look for
   Microphone.
   
3. Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone
   to ON.
   
4. Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to
   ON.
   
5. Restart the game bar.

Windows cursor appears while using Game Bar to record gameplay

We understand that Windows cursor appears on the screen while you are using Game Bar to record gameplay.



As you have mentioned that when turn off Game Bare the issue stops, in this case, we can try changing some settings in Game Bar and see if that helps in resolving the issue. Kindly refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Gaming and select
   Captures from the left pane.
   
3. Under Background recording, toggle the switch to right for
   Record in the background while I’m playing a game.
   
4. Try recording the game now.

Hiding New Game Bar when Recording

Hi LeviathanTheEsper,

Normally, You can play your games while recording it in the background. It seems that background recording is not enabled on your computer that's why the Game bar is showing up when playing your games. Let's check if background recording is enabled by performing
the following steps:

1. Press the Windows key, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Go to Gaming.
3. Select Game DVR.
4. Under Background Recording, check if the toggle switch is enabled.
