Windows 10: Xbox games On PC, External Drive, games work fine, no icons,

I have setup an 8TB external drive for Game Pass Xbox games that I own, Fifteen in total. The games run without any problem via the Xbox application from a labeled placeholder. When I create a desktop icon, I get a small white placeholder with the game title under it. It will run from the desktop but tends to get a little confused when wanting to play Sniper Elite 5 and its icon is exactly the same as MechWarrior 5, or Halo, or Gears 5, or . . . . I sure you get the idea. I have attempted to create customized icons with no success. Question how I can create custom icons or better yet access th

games wont launch when on external drive

I am experiencing problems when trying to launch games when I install them to my external drive. I have tried downloading games from both the xbox app, and from steam, and in both cases the games will either crash upon opening them, or will launch, but bring up a notice that the data is corrupt. Games that I have installed in my PC's base storage work fine, which leads me to believe that the problem lies with this drive that I have the games installed on. I'm not sure how to fix it though and I've already tried a multitude of options, so I am open to suggestions. The drive is a 1TB maxone drive.

I appreciate your reply. It seems that the game progress was saved to your Xbox account associated on your computer that's why you can't play the game from the beginning. I recommend that you remove the account on your computer by performing the following
steps:

1. Press the Windows icon, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Under Email & app accounts, click the Microsoft account, then click Remove.

I also suggest that you reset the Xbox app on your computer so that we could ensure that no account is linked to it. To get started, kindly follow these steps:

1. Press the Windows key, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Go to Apps.
3. Under Apps & features, locate the Xbox app.
4. Click the Xbox app, then select Advanced options.
5. Click Reset.
