Windows 10: Xbox Insiders invited to Beta test NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 Sept. 27-30

2K invites all Xbox Insiders in North America to Ball Without Limits in a special Beta test this weekend for NBA 2K Playgrounds 2! The sequel to the original smash hit takes street balling to the next level with a massive roster of current and retired NBA players, improved online matchmaking with dedicated servers, four-player online matches, three-point contests, new playgrounds, custom matches, and more! Pick your team, get ready to jam, and Ball Without Limits!

We need your help to put as much stress on the servers as we can, so let’s all jump in and have some fun! Servers will be open for dedicated Beta test sessions. See below for instructions on how and when to join 2K, the Xbox Insider Program team and other Xbox Insiders in the playtest this weekend.

PLAYTEST DATES/TIMES:
• Join the Beta, install and get ready to play – Thursday 9/27 at 11:30 AM PDT (2:30 PM EDT)
• Play the Beta – Friday 9/28, 8 AM PDT (11 AM EDT) – Sunday 30th September 11:59 PM PDT (2:59 AM EDT)

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
1. Ensure your console is in one of the supported regions for this Beta: United States, Canada, and Mexico.
2. Sign in to your Xbox One console and launch the Xbox Insider Hub. If you are not yet a member of the Xbox Insider Program, all you need to do is download the Xbox Insider Hub from the Store.
3. Navigate to Insider content > NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 Beta
4. Select Join
5. Joining will automatically direct you to the Store to download the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 Beta

If you encounter any issues while participating in the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 Beta, please submit feedback via Report a problem from your console (hold down the Xbox button and select Report a problem from the power menu)

SUPPORTED REGIONS:
We apologize for the inconvenience, but this limited Beta will only be available in specific regions in North America. If you are not in a supported region, you will not see the Beta in the Xbox Insider Hub.

Play NBA 2K17 Free This Weekend Only With Xbox Live Gold

We’re excited to announce that all Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One can enjoy NBA 2K17 for free this weekend with Xbox Live Gold’s Free Play Days.

Beginning at 9:00am PST Friday, November 18 through 11:59pm PST Monday, November 21, Gold members in Xbox One markets will get a special opportunity to explore the world of NBA basketball. During this period, you’ll also have the option to purchase the game online from the Xbox Store with a 30 – 40% discount and continue playing.

The NBA 2K franchise continues to stake its claim as the most authentic sports video game with NBA 2K17. As the franchise that “all sports video games should aspire to be” (GamesRadar), NBA 2K17 takes the game to new heights and continues to blur the lines between video game and reality.

With the release of the new patch 1.05, fans will enjoy many game improvements, updated rosters, and more. A few updates include:

The Cleveland Cavaliers court floor has been updated to match their new 2016-17 design

The Golden State Warriors uniforms now have the #42 patch in honor of the late Nate Thurmond

Authenticity improvements to a large number of uniforms

Post-release shoes will now dynamically appear in your game mode saves when starting a new mode or when using a custom roster created after Oct. 15

Welcome to the first 1706 build on Xbox One!

NOTE: Not all planned features for this update are available at this time. We have just posted this to the Xbox Forums and I wanted to share here.

NOTE: This update (1706.170526-2218) became available to Preview Alpha on 5/30 and is now moving to Preview Beta.

HOW TO GET IT
• If your console is in Instant-On mode and you have been selected to receive the update, it will download and install the update and reboot to standby.
• NOTE: Once the update is available to you, you can manually begin the update by launching the Guide and navigating to All Settings > System > Updates.
• If you have been selected to receive the update and your console hasn’t downloaded and installed the update by 1:00 AM PDT 6/3/2017, you will be prompted to do so at that time.

Profile

When a signed out user is selected in the Guide, the e-mail address associated with their account will now display under their profile. When the user is signed in, their account will also display under their profile on Home. This feature is enabled by default for adult accounts, and disabled for child accounts. Adult accounts can disable this feature by navigating to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey.

Co-streaming

You can now invite a friend to combine their game broadcast with yours! Sign in with an account that has an Xbox Live Gold subscription and invite a friend to your party. Once you’ve begun broadcasting your game from the Guide, you’ll be able to select “Invite party to co-stream” from the Party tab. Co-streaming is currently available only to Alpha Insiders, so we’d suggest using the Insider forums to sync up with other Alpha Insiders to test out this feature.

Controller Linking

Signing into your Xbox account can now be done with a click of the Xbox button thanks to the new controller linking feature! You can now link an account to a specific controller by opening the Guide, navigating to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey and selecting the “This controller signs in…” option followed by “Link controller.” From there, test the feature out for yourself by signing out of your account and then turning your controller off and then back on.

FIXES:
Windows Sonic

Fixed an issue which could cause distorted sounds and audio glitches when Windows Sonic is enabled.

Skype UWP

Fixed issues which could sometimes cause the Skype UWP to crash during use.

Mixer

Fixed an issue which sometimes caused the virtual keyboard to lose focus (preventing text from being entered).

KNOWN ISSUES:
Party Chat

When initiating a party chat session, the “Connecting” icon may never disappear and the party will fail to connect. Workaround: Create a new party and invite party members.

Audio

When using Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for headphones, you may hear static in the audio. This issue is being investigated by the development team.

Games & Apps

Game and app tiles may sometimes not be visible in Games & Apps.

Mixer

After dismissing the virtual keyboard, attempting to relaunch the virtual keyboard may fail.

When switching games while broadcasting with Mixer, the stream freezes and doesn't allow the user to close or restart the broadcast. Workaround: Restart the console
