  1. xbox one controller can't reconnect after being off and needs pc restart to work

I can use my Xbox One controller the first time after start up but if I turn off the controller, or it turns off after being idle it cannot reconnect or to be more specific it connects for half a second and then immediately disconnects the only solution to this is restarting my pc I have tried everything from similar posts like the one from April 21, 2017, but nothing worked I use my controller via an adapter and not via blue tooth.

  3. Xbox controller on Pc keeps disconnecting and reconnecting

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

Regarding your question, first of all it is recommended that you test if other xbox controllers work on this PC.

To give you the usual fixes about XBOX controllers:

Steps you can take to restart the console.

    Re-pair and reconnect the joystick

Loose connections or damaged wires can also cause the controller to disconnect. If the connection is poor, you can try to re-establish the connection by reconnecting the controller.

Simply disconnect the cable and reconnect it back to the PC. if it doesn't solve the problem, try using a different cable.

In the case of a wireless controller, you have the option of re-establishing the connection by removing the pairing.

Different controllers can be paired using different methods. However, if you're using an Xbox controller, here's how to fix it using your console.

Press the power button to turn on the console.

Press the "X" button on the controller to turn it on.

Press and hold the pairing button on the console until its light blinks.

Do the same for your controller.

When both lights start blinking at the same time, the controller and console are synchronized.

    Checking for Firmware Updates

If there is a problem with the controller's firmware, then you can fix it by updating it.

People often confuse firmware with drivers. But these two things are diametrically opposed. When the firmware runs the controller, the controller needs a driver to communicate with the computer.

If the driver is not up to date, the controller will not be able to communicate with the PC. However, if the firmware is too old, the controller will stop working.

Many gamers have reported that changing the controller's firmware solved the disconnect issue on the Xbox One controller.

Here are the steps to upgrade your Xbox controller's firmware.

Connect your controller to the system via USB.

Turn on your system and sign in to Xbox Live.

You should use the buttons on your controller to access the Menu.

Click on the link labeled "Settings".

Go to the "Devices and Accessories" section.

Find the malfunctioning controller from the list.

    Select "Update".

    To continue, select "Continue".

If "No Update Required" appears on the screen, you are already running the latest firmware. If not, continue installing updates.

    Replacing the Battery

If your controller is wireless, one of the most common reasons it keeps disconnecting is a low battery. Your game's home screen will warn you if your controller's battery is low.

Try replacing the batteries with new ones to see if that helps. Make sure they have the same power as the previous ones.

If the batteries are rechargeable, make sure you fully charge them once a day to enjoy an uninterrupted gaming experience.

    Move to a different location

If you think interference may be the problem, try moving your controller and console to another room. Again, do not try to pair multiple controllers with a single console.

    Proximity to PC/XBOX Console

Wireless controllers typically have a range of 6 to 10 meters. If your controller goes beyond that range, it will disconnect. Therefore, to avoid any inconvenience, stay as close to the console as possible. Also, make sure the controller is facing the system.

We hope the above information can give you a reference.

Personally, I would recommend testing with a new controller to see if it is a hardware failure of the controller or a PC setup issue, which would be very helpful in resolving the issue.
