Windows 10: Xbox One controller not working outside Windows apps

So, tl;dr, tried installing drivers to get my Gamecube controller working, it didn't work, so I ended up uninstalling said drivers and possibly not uninstalling them properly or uninstalling too much and now my Xbox One controller only works in windows apps

I installed something called Zadig, which did all the stuff for me, and I thought I uninstalled it but after uninstalling the software, Steam was still detecting 4 vJoy controllers and not my Xbox One controller, which connected fine before

And with Zadig installed, the Gamecube controller wasn't working either

In my device manager I have under **Xbox Peripherals**, **Xbox One Controller**, and under **System devices**, I have **Virtual Gamepad Emulation Bus**, which seemed to have an effect on things getting rid of vJoy controllers when I disabled it, but then I re-enabled it and the vJoy controllers are gone and nothing is showing up still

Not too sure what to do at this point, I've tried updating drivers and all that stuff, the only thing I have yet to try is to install then uninstall everything I downloaded again, but I don't know if that's the best idea because I might ruin more things trying that

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Initially, we need to pair the device to show up in the list while connected through Bluetooth. Check with the below mentioned steps and see if it works.

Xbox One controller working wrong

Hi,

The issue may be related to the incompatible Xbox one controller drivers.



Please try the steps below and see if it helps:

• Press Windows key + R key. Type "devmgmt.msc" and click Enter.
• In the Device Manager, go to > Human Interface Devices > Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class .
• If you notice a yellow exclamation, double-click on the Xbox One Controller and go to the Driver tab, click on Update.
• If the driver is already updated, uninstall the driver and then reinstall it.

I would also suggest you check if the game is compatible with Windows 10.
