Windows 10: Xbox One controller now won't connect through bluetooth on my PC

Hello.


I have an xbox one controller that I managed to connect to my PC to play some games quite a while ago.

It was working fine without any issue.

Then at some point I was too busy to play game and when I went back to play again, the controller just won't connect to my PC again.

I don't know exactly on which windows update that caused this.

I'm on the latest 20H2 version now though I'm not sure on which version I was previously.

I removed the paired controller, and tried to re-connect again, but windows just can't seem to find the controller.

I did remove the device in the bluetooth settings, then i connect it to usb and uninstalled the driver from device manager, following some advice I found in other thread but to no luck.

The fact that I'm pointing out is that, it was working, but at some point windows update?, it just won't work anymore.

There's no changes to my hardware bluetooth dongle etc., so this has got to be a windows issue.


I have another laptop which is running on windows 10 version 2004 and the controller connects without any issue.

Is it that the version difference between 20H2 and 2004 may have something to do with this problem?

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Initially, we need to pair the device to show up in the list while connected through Bluetooth. Check with the below mentioned steps and see if it works.

Cant connect my XBOX ONE controller to my W10 pc via bluetooth

Hi,

If you encounter issues connecting an Xbox One Wireless Controller on your Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth, it may be because of an incorrect device configuration. Another factor that we have to take into consideration is an outdated Bluetooth driver. We suggest
running the Bluetooth troubleshooter on your Windows 10 PC. Here are the steps:

• Select the Start button, then select Settings >
  Update & security > Troubleshoot.
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth >
  Run the troubleshooter.
• Restart your device so that the changes will take effect.
• Disconnect then reconnect the controller and check if the same issue occurs.

We also recommend verifying if the Bluetooth device shows on the Device Manager. To do so, kindly perform the following steps:

• In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
• In Device Manager, select View > Show hidden devices.
• In Device Manager, select View > Devices by connection.
• Find your Bluetooth hardware.
