Windows 10: Xbox One Controller Randomly Stops Responding

I've been having issues with my game controller. The problem is at random times, my controller will randomly stop responding, though it is still receiving power. The controller won't respond until I unplug it and plug it back in. There's no specific delay for when this happens, as some nights it'll happen between hours of gameplay, and other nights, it is virtually impossible to play a game with the controller as it'll fail much more often. This started happening earlier this week which was the first time I've used my computer. Windows 10 was installed on it about 2 months ago. I've tried what I can imagine to be everything to fix this but to no avail, spending hours of research but finding little to no problems that sound like mine.

Other problems occur as well whenever my controller fails:

- I will pull up the start menu to reset my computer finding that the selector constantly scrolls up or down. Though this still happens when I unplug my controller, mouse and keyboard. Resetting is the only way I found to fix this. This happens in every menu I pull up not just the start menu.

- At some points when I plug the controller back in it won't even receive power. In one occurrence I got a notification that the USB was not recognized.


I've tried a number of things to fix and troubleshoot this issue:

- Unplug the controller and plug it back in

- Try different USB ports 2.0 and 3.0, front and back

- Try a different Xbox One controller

- Try a different video game

- Ensure Drivers are up to date

- Reset computer

- Uninstall and Reinstall Controller

- Reboot computer without cleaning off apps and files

- Reboot computer while cleaning off apps and files

Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc
