Windows 10: Xbox One controller suddenly not working when connected to laptop through USB; not in...

[COLOR=rgba26, 26, 27, 1]I'm trying to connect an XB1 controller to my laptop using a USB to USB mini and have had no problems in the past using both the controller and cable. All of a sudden, it's just not working anymore, and I can't figure out what's wrong. I've tried using 2 different USB cables, 2 different Xbox controllers, and all 3 USB ports on my laptop.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=rgba26, 26, 27, 1]I've followed all the tutorials I'd been able to online, like this one that tells me to search in device manager, but whenever I try and look through the troubleshooting settings, it just tells me that it's not available for my current update. I've tried launching troubleshooting manually through command prompt, but when I do, I get a popup that says "Windows Online Troubleshooting Service is disabled" and "Windows Online Troubleshooting Service is not enabled for this version of Windows." I've also just tried installing an Xbox controller driver, but that doesn't work either.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=rgba26, 26, 27, 1]My controller knows it's being turned on since the logo starts flashing, and even the other controller I've tried using knows that it's being plugged in, so I don't even know what to do anymore. Are there any known fixes for this or am I just out of luck?[/COLOR]

Xbox one controller suddenly not working with Windows 10

Problem description:

- Xbox One controller now listed in Device Manager as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

- I get the following "USB device not recognized" notification when connecting Xbox One controller:

The last usb device you connected to this computer malfunctioned

Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Restart computer multiple times

- Try with 2 additional USB cables

- Try all 3 cables in different USB slots

- Uninstall controller in Device Manager, then reconnected controller. Devices is re-added with same error message:

"Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"

Observations:

- When I tried plugging controller into the keyboard's built in USB sockets, it caused the keyboard and mouse to suddenly stop working and appear to power down until restart.

- This controller has never had this problem on this device in the past, and has previous worked perfectly with all 3 cables I used in testing.

Any additional troubleshooting steps you can suggest? Thanks in advance.

Initially, we need to pair the device to show up in the list while connected through Bluetooth. Check with the below mentioned steps and see if it works.

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
