Windows 10: Xbox One Wireless Adapter and Xbox One Wireless Controller do not connect each other

I used the Xbox One Controller for Windows with Xbox One Wireless Adapter for years without any problems. It always worked.

On monday I wanted to connect the controller but it is not working. I use Windows 10 1909.

The LEDs on the adapter and controller are flashing but they don't connect. When I try it on other computers it works plug and play and I can use the controller. So I think there is no problem with devices because they work.

The problem appears only on my computer with the adapter and 2 controllers. Something strange is that I can use both controllers with cable.

Everything seems to be fine, the adapter is correctly recognized in device manager and there is no error. The problem appeared out of nowhere.


What I tried:

• uninstalling drivers for the adapter and reinstalling them manually/automatically via Windows Update
• resetting Windows Update components via script
• using/trying every USB port on my computer
• uninstalling hidden USB devices
• installing normal Windows updates
• deleting all gamepads in devices and printers

I have no clue what I should do next. Is there anyone with the same problem and fixed it? Please help me, I don't want to install a new copy of windows.

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
