Windows 10: Xbox PC Game Halo Infinite still taking up storage after reset, cannot redownload to drive,...

I use the Xbox App for certain games such as Halo infinite, an recently the shortcut has gone blank and attempting to open the game launches game services from the microsoft store. I reset the game via Apps & Features, and when I went to reinstall the game I get an error message on any folder of the drive. It appears to be downloaded in my WindowsApps folder that I gained acess to, but I cannot redownload the game to it or delete it and I cannot uncheck read-only in the properties tab. It says I have full control. Any help is greatly appreciated. Same issue as https://answers.microsoft.

Xbox PC Games (Halo Infinite & Forza Horizon 5) still taking up storage after deletion

Recently, I used the Xbox App to delete two games, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite. When I deleted both of the games, there was no change in storage space as it freed up nothing. I have checked the uninstall section in Settings, the Apps folder, and the WindowsApps folder, where I only found a leftover .exe of Halo Infinite. I don't know where the location of these games are, but I need the storage.

Resolved: My solution is in another reply of mine at the bottom of this post, and if you can't access windowsapps like I randomly did, I recommend looking at Greg's solutions.

 

Reclaiming space on HDD after resetting game

Hello all,

I was playing Halo Infinites new campaign through the Xbox app with a gamepass subscription. My game crashed, and afterwards, I tried rebooting the game to be only greeted by that awful gaming services bug that brings you to the gaming services page in the Microsoft store. I uninstalled and reinstalled the gaming services a few times to no avail. Turns out it was an issue with Halo Infinite itself rather than gaming services as a whole as I could boot up other games no problem.

I went into Win10 Settings > Apps to go and repair Halo Infinite before going to the uninstall and reinstall method. However, I wasn't paying attention and clicked reset instead of repair. Clicking reset made the game just disappear from the drive. I could not see it in the app's list anymore. However, it never reclaimed the approx 70GB of storage space the game took up. I went to the folder location of where Microsoft games/apps are installed to manually delete, and I can see all my games installed via the Xbox app there besides Halo Infinite. Tried restarting my PC and it didn't show my free space go up 70GB. I know I didn't get my space back because I cannot redownload the game due to insufficient space.

Tried going to storage in Settings to see if it was moved to temporary files or something, and nada.

I am not quite sure how to reclaim this 70GB. Any advice or suggestions?

 

Halo Infinite is not getting launched in Xbox game Pass PC

I am unable to launch the Game Halo Infinite . Getting Error - 2015291336 . Game Files error .

Tried several methods -

Uninstall and reinstalling the game .

Signing out from Xbox companion app and then signing in again .

Microsoft store - sign out and sign in with the account .

I can play the Fifa game with no issues but for MS first party game Halo Infinite is not getting launched .

So decided to unsubscribe from this service .

I really don't have so much time for solving the issues all the time even after paying for the service .
