Windows 10: Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 Not Working

Recently I bought the newer slim variant of the Xbox Adapter and after plugging it in and following the instructions, I found that it doesn't work. Inspecting the device in Device Manager like other forums have said helped me learn that there are no drivers installed in the Adapter. Why are there adapters being sold with no drivers in them? The forums suggested going to the Microsoft Update Catalog, and well none of the drivers I found helped. Searching online for updated/new drivers through Device Manager comes up with nothing, and no troubleshooting has helped me figure out why it doesn't turn on. I wanted to contact someone from Microsoft about it because the virtual agent just brings me back to the same forums I've already looked at, but I can't find a way to. Would like some help getting it running so I didn't waste the $20ish on an adapter that doesn't turn on.
