  1. Xbox wireless adapter issue

I have been using an Xbox One wireless controller with my PC for about 6 months now. Originally i was using it wired via USB but I purchased a second hand official adapter after issues with the charger port. After syncing first time it worked perfectly and all I had to do subsequently was switch on the controller when needed and the adapter would pick it up without fail. Last week they stopped syncing, even when I put them next to each other. Lights flash on both but nothing. I feel the issue must be either the adapter as my S8 phone detects the controller via bluetooth when I press the pair button, or it is software related but my PC also claims the adapter is working too under network adapters. Any help would be appreciated before I splash out on replacements!

    :)
