Xbox Wireless Adapter Won't Connect to Controller, Not A Xbox ACC issue.

• It is recognized my desktop "Xbox Wireless Adapter"(so it's not the Xbox ACC issue), the light flashes, but I can't pair it with any Xbox controller and even though it worked perfectly 5 days ago and it still works on other devices I have, so it's definitely
  not a hardware issue.
• I have searched for the issue online extensively and tried all of the fixes from these forums and others.
• Things I've tried:
  • Restarting and plugging into different USB port
  • Manually updating the drivers. Tried various driver versions from the Microsoft Update Catalog
  • Unistalling the drivers and letting them reinstall automatically
  • Fiddling with Wake/Sleep options of the Xbox Wireless Adapter
  • Updating Controller firmware

I'm short of just reinstalling windows but I don't really want to go that route if possible. It seems to be linked to a windows update. I'd also like to state that this was originally written by another community member with the same issue and their thread
is locked. I'm experiencing the exact same issues and have tried the same processes with no results.

 

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is not working anymore (NOT Xbox ACC Issue)

I feel like I'm going mad... This may be the last thing I post before my head explodes...

Anyway, my Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 stopped working after a damned Windows 10 Update happened around Christmas. It was working fine and I could connect both my controller and Xbox headset to my PC using this adapter without any issues. I'll give
more details below.

• It is recognized by my laptop as "Xbox Wireless Adapter"(so it's not the Xbox ACC issue), the light flashes, but I can't pair it with any Xbox controller and headset, even though it worked perfectly when I got it, and it still works on other devices I have,
  so it's definitely not a hardware issue.

After a bit more research, it seems like one of the security updates from Windows 10 has broken these wireless adapters for a lot of people. I just need help understanding which security patch I need to uninstall in order for my Xbox Wireless Adapter to
work again.

I am running Windows 10 Home(Build 1803) and the license is OEM, running on a Dell G5 laptop.

P.S. I know this topic has been discussed before, but none of the fixes work for me, so that's why I've posted a new one.
