Windows 10: Xbox Wireless Controller Having Trouble Reconnecting to PC After it Had Been Paired

Alright, this is probably gonna be pretty long-winded but bear with me. Let me just preface this by saying I have never owned a console or used a controller before for anything. I just got an official Microsoft Xbox Wireless controller to play with via Bluetooth on my gaming laptop. It took me a little while to figure out how to connect it, but after I did it went smoothly until I left the room for about 30 minutes. When I came back, I picked up the controller and it had turned itself off and appeared to have disconnected from the laptop, although via the Bluetooth menu on my laptop it said that it was still paired. So with this, I assumed I just had to hold the Xbox button in the middle down to turn it on and it would seamlessly reconnect without any issues. When I did this, the Xbox light on the controller began to flash, (not as rapidly as it did when searching for Bluetooth devices at the beginning). While this was going on, my laptop Bluetooth settings showed the Xbox controller and the text was switching between “paired” and “connected”, seemingly in time with the flashing on the controller. After quite a while I finally gave up and clicked forget this device and did a fresh reconnect and it worked, but there has to be an easier way to get it to work each time without having to do that. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known glitch? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Can’t connect Xbox one controller to pc

Bluetooth Pairing - Xbox One Elite Controller

Let us try the below troubleshooting steps to pair the Xbox One Elite Controller and check if it helps.

Step 1: If the device is not detected run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Hardware and Devices troubleshooter checks for common problems and makes sure that any new device or hardware connected to your PC is installed correctly.

• Press Windows key from the keyboard, type
  Troubleshooting and select it.
• Click on view all option on the upper left corner of
  Troubleshooting window.
• Select the Hardware and Device
  options from the list.
• Click Next to run the
  Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
