Windows 10: XBOX Wirelss Controller Dongle causes Blue Screen

Dongle causes blue screens.


If it is plugged in on startup the computer crashes about 75% of the time about 3 mins after the computer is started.

If I plug in the dongle post start up the computer crashes about 50% of the time.


It will either blue screen, or, just shut down and boot to BIOS and then get stuck in a BIOS loop unless I completely power off the computer and remove the dongle before start up.


If it doesn't cause a crash it otherwise works fine with the Series X Controllers. Even works just fine with two controllers attached in multiplayer games like the Lego ones.

Xbox one wireless controller driver induced blue screen crash

While uninstalling my Xbox one wireless controller for PC, I received a blue screen crash. This is the second time the controller has caused a crash.

Since I purchased the wireless controller, it has often failed to startup. To resolve the problem I follow the steps described in the following link:
