XFI advanced security and my computer

Hello. I'm sorry to ask this question here because it is somewhat unrelated to Microsoft but if someone wants to help please do. Anyways I have Comcast/Xfinity as my internet provider and there is an option with them to turn on or turn off advanced security feature which basically acts like an additional level of protection through the router, filtering threats to all the devices that are connected to the network. I have mine turned off because I remember a technician told me some time ago that too much security may block certain sites or services from working properly and then its somewhat ti

Cannot Enter Safe Mode / Computer boots normally

    I'm running Win 10 Pro 1903.

Here are the steps I have taken to get into safe mode: Start button, settings, update and security, recovery, advanced startup, troubleshoot, advanced options, startup settings, restart. The computer boots normally, not in safe mode. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks in advance for your help and interest. .

    Microsoft Edge TLS Security

After trying everything (not a lot of steps) listed in the Microsoft Edge support site, I did a wider search and found this very simple youtube video that fixed it immediately:

For those who prefer not to click links the steps are simple:

    1. Click in the Cortana search bar next to the Win 10 Start button

    2. Type internet options

    3. Select internet options (control panel) from the list

    4. Click on the advanced tab

    5. Scroll down to the security section

    6. Make sure the following are all clicked:
    Use SSL 3.0
    Use TLS 1.0
    Use TLS 1.1
    Use TLS 1.2

    7. Click apply

    8. Refresh the page that was giving the error and it should now connect.

Hope this helps, it was a 30 second fix after hours of pounding my head against the error with the Support site suggestions.

Could the daily Win 10 lockups be caused by creative sound card?

    Hi Rob,

This problem might be caused due to compatibility of a program.

We suggest you to remove Norton security suite and check if the computer is stable.

If you still have issues with computer freezing up we would suggest you to open device manager and disable the following devices:

    • SB-xfi sound card.
    • NVidia HD.
    • NVidia graphics card.
Now enable one and check if it helps, follow the same routine to find the driver or device that is causing the crash.

    Hope this information helps.
