XnView on Windows 10 fails to open icons

    Hi all,

I set Xnview as th default photo viewer in Windows 10. Unfortunetly, it didn't cover *.ico files (icons.) so I associated .ico files with XnView as seen in the image below.

However, when I double click an ico in Windows XnView start but it shows its default look with no icon. It seems that Windows doesn't start XNView with a parameter pointing to the path to icon files. How do I fix this?

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

  2. I have some .fxs files in my archive from old WinFax Pro (Symantec Corp.) software used in Windows XP. Unable to open those files

    XnView 1.91.6 can
open and print file extension .FXS files

  3. Cannot open png and jpg files; "Windows cannot find "'C:/User/..."

At the time I was asking this question the suggestions didn't work. The best solution I have found is to use a third-party app for browsing thru photos. I've been using XnView which has some editing capability, as well (tho I've never used that). You
can set this as your default app for opening photos thru settings > apps > default apps - at least that was how I did it in an earlier update of windows 10. (Now this doesn't even show that I have XnView, but also now does show Photos. Part of a Microsoft
plot I'm sure.) To have XnView allow the left and right arrow keys to move to the next and previous file, go to Tools > Options > Keyboard/Mouse.

XnView on Windows 10 fails to open icons

How about right click on the Icon file->Open With->Choose Another App. If XnView is not on the list, click on "More Apps". If still not see XnView, click on "Choose another App on this PC" and navigate until you locate "XnView.exe" then select it, put a check mark on "Always use this App to open .ico file"
