Windows 10: XPS printed Document disappears into never never land, never produces option to name the...

windows 11 new pc installed xps viewer, twice, as there are different drivers. Looks fine, then print. Document disappears into never never land. Have not, cannot yet move files to this pc so I opened every document. None are the xps document. Have to say I would PAY to have Win 11 be as seamless as WIN 7.

Unfortunately, this doesn't help. In Windows 7, when I would use xps document printer, it would ask for a name and place to save the document. When I gave the document a name and then printed, the document would automatically open. (See step 3 at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/print-to-xps-document-writer#1TC=windows-7)


I can't seem to make this happen in Windows 10. It doesn't matter whether I choose to save as .xps or .oxps - the document will not open automatically. I don't know what the previous version of XPS Document Writer was in Windows 7. In Windows 10 it is Microsoft
XPS Document Writer v4.

Printing to XPS fails on Windows 10

I can understand the inconvenience caused to you. I would be glad to help you.

I would suggest you to refer the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Search for Device Manager, or do Win + R and then
  DEVMGMT.MSC.
  
• 
  Go to 'Print queues' then uninstall both the PDF and XPS print queues.
  
• 
  Search for 'Advanced Printer Setup', or look this option in the Control panel.
  
• 
  Select 'The printer that I want isn't listed', in the next window choose 'Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings', select 'Use an existing port:' then in the dropdown select 'FILE: (Print
  to File)'.
  
• 
  In the next window, it will appear a list. Select Microsoft then in the second list select 'Microsoft Print to PDF' and next.
  
• 
  Select 'Replace the current driver' and then next
  
• 
  Give the printer a name (I suggest the original name) then next and it shall reinstall the printer and its driver.
  
• 
  Repeat the process but now instead of selecting 'Microsoft Print to PDF' in the list, select the XPS one.
  
• 
  Restart and see if it prints now.

Documents Disappear in Print Spooler before printing

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, doing these steps did not solve the problem. Printer continues to buzz and click and then document disappears from the printer status without printing.
