Windows 10: Yeah. I got hacked.

Can someone please help me?

I don't know how this happened but my PC was hacked the other day. Shortly after I realised exe software and other things were popping up, I ran Avast and Malwarebytes scans.

It found 25+ viruses just from the events on that day. Today, my PayPal was charged, funky things were happening on my FB and Insta, and I have no clue how it's happening or how to stop it.

I've changed passwords, got 2FA set up on most important things and have not received any notifications of attempted logins.



Can someone please help me? How can I truly make sure my PC is back to the way it was?

Could traces of viruses be left on my PC? Registry keys? Network settings changed? I feel like some settings could have been automatically changed.



I feel really lost and violated right now (and I would consider myself a decently tech-savvy young guy) which is why it sucks to be this clueless.

Any advice, I'd really REALLLY REALLY appreciate it.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Email Hacked

thank you for your response and the great information you provided.

I use two step authentication for my email account and all important web sites. I also use the full version of Malwarebytes to protect my computer.

But I will do the scans you suggested AdwCleaner and Limewire.com and let you know the results.

I am worried though that the webcam installed on my laptop could have been hacked. I never use it and forgot about it, so never disabled it.

Any suggestions as to find if it was actually hacked?
