Windows 10: Yoga 920 USB C to HDMI not working

Got a Lenovo Yoga 920 earlier this week. Plugged my USB C to HDMI adapter in and it worked for a few minutes and than stopped working.

It is now identifying as a USB 2.0 Billboard Device which I belive means it isn’t configuring Displayport Alternative Mode properly.



Here’s what I’ve tried:

Hitting Windows – P to change project mode.

Going into display settings and detect display.

Checking for Updating graphics driver, USB drivers, check for updates.

Using a different USB C to HDMI adapter, a different TV, and a different cable.

Booting to safe mode with no services running.

Any thoughts for re-configuring the driver?

Generic USB C to HDMI Converter error

Hello there,

I have a Generic USB 3.0 type C to HDMI converter that is not being recognized by my Lenovo Yoga 920 running Windows 10 Home edition.

The error message I get is "USB Device not recognized" "The last USB Device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it"

Is this in fact an error with the device itself or is there something I can do to try and fix? I have performed all the usual checks, changed port, checked drivers, updated windows, rebooted, googled and binged to my hearts content.

Any advice appreciated.

Windows 10 USB-C to HDMI to DVI

Hi,

I have this old monitor at work that doesn't have HDMI. I have a Lenovo Yoga 910 laptop that only has USB-C ports. I tried to connect my USB-C adapter to the HDMI cable which is attached to a DVI adapter. My computer recognizes the other monitor (under display
settings) but I'm not seeing anything on the monitor. I realize having two adapters is a lot but I was wondering if there was a way to make this work.

I know the pieces work by themselves. I have connected other laptops with HDMI ports to this monitor and I have used the USB-C to HDMI adapter with other monitors before. It is only when putting the three pieces together that I am not seeing any output.
I'm guessing there needs to be more power. I wasn't sure if there was some way to increase the power here (like in raspberry pi you can change a value to force more power to the HDMI port). Any help would be appreciated.
