Locked computer

I have been locked out of my computer - it is asking for a Bitlocker recovery key which I do not have and is not listed in my Microsoft account (although several other recovery keys are)

The computer is listed as one of my devices in my Microsoft account but no Bitlocker key.

How can I gain access to my computer?

 

Computer suddenly asks for a Bitlocker Recovery Key. I've never enabled this? Help!!

Restarted my computer trying to install a Windows Update which had been failing for a while.

After my computer was restarted, it now asks for a 'Bitlocker Recovery Key'.

I have never enabled Bitlocker. It must have been triggered by the Windows Update somehow.

I cannot find the Recovery Key anywhere. Without this, I cannot use my C: drive, which Windows need to finish the Update.

Now, I am locked out of everything.

I do have a Recovery Key ID, which Windows displays when asking for the Recovery Key. But no 48-digit number.

What's the next best step?

If you're locked out of your PC, you'll need a Bitlocker recovery key to sign back in. Bitlocker recovery keys may be recovered in the following places:

• On a printout you saved.
• Saved on a USB flash drive.
• In your Microsoft account. See Bitlocker Recovery Keys.
• In your Azure Active Directory account. If you are on a work PC and use an Azure Active Directory account to sign in, to get your recovery key, see the device info for your
  Microsoft Azure account.

Or you may ask some for help:

• Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
• If your PC is connected to a domain, ask a system administrator for your recovery key.

However, if the above places does not recover your recovery key, you may have to reset your PC to its default factory settings.
