    I have been struggling with this for a while to no avail. Windows 10 prompts me to update but then gets stuck halfway through and says that some programs are not compatible with the update and need to be removed and then lists "Avira Antivir". When I click to remove the program it fails and says that I must remove it myself.


    I don't remember intentionally installing Avira, but noticed it in the program files so the first thing that I tried was to uninstall it manually. For that I followed instructions on Avira's site which included deleting folders in safe mode and running a clean up tool that they provided. Still, windows wouldn't update.

    I tried to both manually follow the instructions but couldn't find any Blocking Applications that were true so I ran the script. When I run the script it identifies files that are tied to Avira and that are causing issues but for some reason it returns null in the directory. I can't remove files that I don't know the location of so this doesn't help.


    Finally I tried to run the update from an administrator account, but got the same negative result. At this point I am not sure what else I can do to get my computer updated. This seems to be a fairly common issue yet none of the solutions that I have tried have worked.

    i am updating window 10 , ver. 1803 and i cant delete Avira antivir on my pc. help.

    I 100% do not have Avira Antivir installed on my desktop, but a Windows 10 update will not install until I remove it. This is impossible.

    How do I fix this issue?

    Has anyone been able to successfully remove "Avira AntiVir" from their files?

    4 hours with tech support operating my machine didn't do it.

    It is preventing me from installing the latest update.
