  1. Your administrator requires a scan of this item

Hello,While moving or loading files that I have already scanned for potential threats, I sometimes get a message that says "Your administrator requires a scan of this item. This may take 10 seconds".I have confirmed that I do not have any linked organizational accounts on my computer. This is a personal installation. When I go to threat history in Windows defender, there are no scans listed in the history. I need to stop this from occurring as it has broken some of my apps and they will no longer run. I also cannot tell specifically which file windows is identifying as it is not listed in

    :)

  2. Your administrator requires a secturity scan of this item.

Hi. Sometimes windows 10 give me this notification

    Security scan required

Your administrator requires a security scan of this item. The scan could take up to 10 seconds.

It's gives me this message periodically, and usually when start 3dsmax 2020 or drag'n'drop some plugins in plugins folder.

I have question, sorry for caps but - WHAT ITEM???

It's every time says me - THIS ITEM - and every time i press on this notification, and it just redirect me to Enable block at first sight to detect malware in seconds | Microsoft Docs

this page have horrid Russian translation, but in English i still can't get anything useful from it. Just description of settings I've never touched.

    so...

First - what item? It didn't say.

Second - i don't have any malicious files in 3dsmax directory (may be it's some crazy coincidence that i see this message usually wen operate with 3dsmax), no files in exclusion from 3dsmax directory.

Third - my defender have default settings, i didn't modify anything, except few exclusions for false positive files (nether of them have something to do with 3dsmax), and i only user on this PC, i guess this administrator of mine is just default settings
    of defender.

It really began annoy me, just because it always ask me for something, but never give me any details expect of just link to settings description, settings I've never touched.

I also scanned all 3dsmax folder few times, it didn't find anything, but still continue to ask, i mean REQUIRE, to scan so mythic ITEM, that never defined.

Defender itself, have green check mark, and says that - everything a o.k.

I also tried to google it - didn't find anything useful about it.

PS. Checked security log in event viewer, there only audit success entries, probably have nothing to do with defender at all...

PPS. As u see, I'm little frustrated, so to be clear, what help i want (at least for now) it's answer to question - how can i understand what item windows mean?

  3. Your administrator requires a secturity scan of this item.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

    1. Are you aware of any changes made to this computer prior to the issue?
    2. What is the version of your Windows 10 computer? (To check the version of your Windows 10, you can refer
See which version of Windows 10 you have).
    3. Is the computer connected to any Domain Network?
    4. Do you see a message like Some settings are managed by your organization when using Windows Defender?
    5. From where are you dragging and dropping the plugins?

It might be difficult for us to tell you which item was blocked by Windows Defender and requires a scan, so I suggest you to look for the
Threat/Protection history by launching Windows Defender > Click on
Virus and thread protection > Click on Threat/Protection history. Here, you can find the history which was allowed or blocked by Windows Defender.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if you are getting the same message from Windows Defender.

    Method 1:
Running Security Scan With Microsoft Safety Scanner.

I suggest you to perform a Full Scan using
Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if you find
    anything.

If you don't get anything using Microsoft Safety Scanner, then follow
    Method 2.

    Method 2:
    Performing A Clean Boot.

I suggest you to put your computer in a
    Clean Boot State
and check what exact is causing this issue.

A Clean Boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality
while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

To determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot, please refer to the section
How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean boot from the above Clean Boot article.

If the Clean Boot works, then don't forget to place the computer to normal boot by going to
Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting section in the Clean Boot link.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.

Your administrator requires a secturity scan of this item.

    windows 10 may update latest

no related or significant changes, i guess it started after may update, but i think i saw similar notifications before, its hard to tell because actual antivirus (Deffender) doesn't have any problems with my system

no domain, as far as i know, i connected to regular home internet provider, directly, no router, just switch.

no, don't nothing about settings being managed by my organisation
    dragging from zip archive

I have two items allowed, and 1 removed. That's it. (any of them have nothing to do with 3dsmax)

I don't have any not scanned, waiting for my decision, threats, i wrote all about this already. Defender icon is green.

But when i start 3dsmax, but not every time, only sometime, or when i some time install new plugins to it.

My friends make their own rendering system, so i periodically download archive with *.dlu

*.dlu is actually dll files, but, i scanned them several times and nothing.

Ok... to be clear, Deffender don't tell that it found anything at all (as it do when i bump into false positive or positive files), nether by itself not by manual scanning, it's always green.

But windows periodically remind me that magical administrator of mine, who apparently lives inside my PC, and he probably invisible, because my case is open all the time, and i don't see anything except my hardware, REQUIRED me to scan the "ITEM", and never
specified which one... while Defender didn't ask me anything.

I scanned 3dsmax, both i have 2018 and 2020, and both sometimes trigger this

    I scanned archive with dlu's

I scanned those two allowed files too

I will not waste time to clean boot, i even can't reproduce it by my will, only freaking Administrator can, who probably hide under my bed or something.

I only want to know which item he talks about, and why in the name of tyrannosaurus rex, it can't just show me which one.

Accept it as bug report. Windows say me THIS ITEM, and don't show which one. It frustrating as hell.
