Windows 10: Your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch or button on your device.

I cannot use my webcam at all. I keep getting this message.

An outdated or incompatible camera driver can be one of the factors why this issue occurs. To assist you with your concern, we recommend that you follow these steps to check if the camera is recognized correctly in Device Manager.
To do this, follow the steps below:

• In the Search box, type Device
  Manager and press Enter.
• Navigate to Imaging devices.
• A yellow exclamation means that the camera driver is not installed properly. You can right-click and select
  Uninstall.
• Right-click Imaging devices and select
  Scan for hardware change.
• If the yellow exclamation mark still exists, go to their support site to search your product name and find the corresponding camera driver to install and update.

Note: If there are no imaging devices, it indicates that there is no camera configured or it is a camera hardware failure. We suggest that you contact
your system manufacturer to report the status of the machine as we don’t want to void the warranty of your device.

• To open up your webcam or camera, select the Start Windows logo Start button button, and then select Camera in the list of apps.
• If you want to use the camera within other apps, select the Start Windows logo Start button button, select Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon > Privacy > Camera, and then turn on Let apps use my camera. 
• From there, turn on each of the listed apps where you want to use the camera. Test your camera here

In Device Manager menu, click on View > Show hidden device. Then see if camera might be listed under Other devices or Unknown.

Otherwise see if it might be listed under Imaging device.

If not, there is usually a physical button/key/switch you can use to turn the camera on or off. For example, most Lenovo uses F8 or Fn+F8, or a switch above the lens, HP has a camera key or a button on the side of the laptop, MSI uses F6 or Fn+F6, etc. See if that applies to yours.

If it still doesn't work, boot the computer into BIOS menu, and see if camera might be diabled in BIOS level.

If none of that works, please hold down Windows + R keys, type in msinfo32.exe and hit enter. Then share a screenshot of the System Information window. Thanks!
